Red, Wine & Blue
Women Organizing Women. Welcome to the Party.
Why We’re Sharing Red Wine & Blue
We’re highlighting Red Wine & Blue because it models something we believe deeply in here in the Alleghany Highlands: everyday people organizing locally, respectfully, and effectively around issues that matter to their families and neighbors.
Red Wine & Blue is a national grassroots network that trains and equips suburban and rural women to engage constructively on public education, voting rights, and democratic norms. Their approach emphasizes practical tools, peer support, and confident local leadership — not noise, not outrage for its own sake, but informed civic participation.
For ACDCVA, this aligns with our education-first approach:
• Learn the facts
• Build relationships
• Take thoughtful action locally
In a small community like ours, civic engagement works best when it grows from trusted conversations and shared values. Organizations like Red Wine & Blue demonstrate that respectful, organized, grassroots action can strengthen democracy from the ground up.
We share resources like this to expand our toolbox — not to import someone else’s agenda, but to learn from successful models of community-based engagement that can be adapted thoughtfully to our region.
