ACDCVA July 2026 Bridge Brigade Rally

The work of democracy continues, and so will we.
In July, members and friends of the Alleghany-Covington Democratic Committee of Virginia gathered on the Jefferson Avenue bridge over I-64 in Clifton Forge for a Bridge Brigade demonstration.
With banners displayed across the bridge and volunteers standing together in the summer heat, the event was a visible reminder that civic engagement begins when neighbors are willing to show up, speak out, and stand together.
The Bridge Brigade is part of ACDCVA’s ongoing effort to be active and visible in the Alleghany Highlands. The July demonstration featured several of the committee’s new bridge banners, including messages focused on democracy, fairness, accountability, and the real-life concerns facing working families.
The banners included:
-
Democracy Dies in Silence
-
Families Before Fortunes
-
Are You Winning?
-
End the Fraud
The demonstration drew supportive honks from drivers passing below on I-64 and gave participants a chance to share a public message in a peaceful, positive way. The bridge has become an important location for ACDCVA visibility because it allows our message to reach people traveling through and within our community.
Events like this remind us that democracy is not something we only talk about during election season. It is something we practice by being present, staying informed, encouraging one another, and making our values visible.
ACDCVA is grateful to everyone who helped plan, set up banners, stand on the bridge, wave to passing traffic, take photos, and support the effort. Whether members stayed for the full event, stopped by briefly, or simply drove by and honked in support, every act of encouragement helped make the day meaningful.
Thank you to all who helped make the July Bridge Brigade Rally possible. ACDCVA will continue working to be visible, active, and engaged in the Alleghany Highlands.
